Your mission

As Design Lead, you will be responsible for both hands-on product design and developing our internal design culture and team. You will work with a team of four designers and report directly to our Head of Product and Co-founder, Gregor Weber.  

Your mission will be to...

- Own design quality
    - Continuously test and review the product to identify UX/UI flaws and opportunities
    - Collaborate closely with engineers to improve design implementation
    - Champion design quality across the company and ensure it's treated as a first-class priority
    - Set up better design review processes and establish a higher design bar for everything we ship
- Develop and mentor our design team
    - Mentor and grow the skills of our more junior designers, especially around UI and visual craft
    - Provide structured feedback and guidance to help the team improve
- Design hands-on
    - Take on core product features end-to-end, from first sketches to final implementation
    - Collaborate with product and engineering on early ideas and bring them to life through strong design execution
    - Lead the design of larger feature areas or use cases as we scale

Your story

• You have 4+ years of experience at a B2C company, ideally in a fast-growing startup environment (e.g., Series A to Unicorn stage)
• You have prior experience in a design lead role, not necessarily managing a large team but owning the design function end-to-end
• You can lead at a strategic level while also contributing hands-on
• You are entrepreneurial, with a business-driven approach to design. You can align design decisions with business objectives, and understand how design impacts key performance indicators (KPIs)
• You believe in the power of speed and execution and love to get your hands dirty and go the extra mile
• You are obsessed to serve the user and strive to deliver over sticking to processes
• You value in-person teamwork and are happy to come to our Berlin HQ five days per week

• You have co-founded an early-stage startup environment, particularly one that has raised investment
• You have experience working in a gaming company, with a strong understanding of gamification
• You have familiarity with or experience in creating animations, micro-interactions, or playful design elements
• You have previous coding experience
